About

Solar Water Heater

A solar water heater is a device that uses the sun’s energy to heat water. This energy is unrestricted. The sun’s rays are employed to heat the water. Water may effortlessly be heated to a temperature of 60-80 degrees Celsius. Solar water heaters (SWHs) with a capacity of 100-300 litres are suitable for home usage. Restaurants, canteens, guest homes, hotels, and hospitals, among other places, can employ larger systems. For home usage, a 100-liter SWH may replace an electric geyser and save around 1500 units of power per year.

How it works?

The collector panel is exposed to the sun’s rays. Inside the collectors, a black absorber soaks up solar radiation and transmits it to the water running through it. The heated water is collected in an insulated tank. Because of the thermal syphon system, water circulates automatically from the tank via the collectors and back to the tank. Solar water heaters can be of two varieties, depending on the collection system: A solar water heater has a collector that collects solar energy and an insulated storage tank that holds the hot water. The heated water that has been saved can be utilized at any moment in the future.

Types

In general, there are two kinds of solar water heaters on the market.

Flat Plate Solar Water Heater – Flat plate collectors absorb solar radiation and are made out of an insulated exterior metallic box with a glass sheet on top.

Evacuated Tube Collector – The Collector is comprised of double-layer borosilicate glass tubes that have been evacuated to provide insulation.
